The Girl with a Pearl Earring by Jan Vermeer, together with  Leonardo's Mona Lisa and Munch's The Scream, is now one of the best known, loved and reproduced paintings in the world.
Segafredo Zanetti has chosen to be main sponsor of an exhibition centered on this masterpiece in Bologna. This will be the only European city to host the mysterious girl before she returns to her renovated home museum, from which she will never again emerge..

The portrait of the Girl with a Pearl Earring is undeniably the star of a superb exhibition on the Golden Age of Dutch Painting, made possible by the temporary closure of the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague, the home of supreme masterpieces from Vermeer to Rembrandt. A truly dazzling nucleus of roughly forty works from the Dutch museum has been lent to just a few exceptionally prestigious international institutions in Japan (Tokyo and Kobe), the USA (San Francisco, Atlanta, New York) and Bologna.
The girl with the pearl earring evokes beauty and mystery, and for five centuries her gaze has continued to cast its spell over those lucky enough to see her 'in the flesh' or feel her presence in the numerous novels and films where she and her sky-blue turban have featured.
